Sex type thing. The song that made headlines in the 90's. A portion of the song: "I am a man, a man/I'll give ya somethin' that ya won't forget /I said ya shouldn't have worn that dress" Critics say the song is about rape when it's actually about the awareness of date rape. The video is dark within itself, elements of BDSM, a girl being hung by chains, etc. This video was the first video to showcase Wieland's trademark "dance" .

Due to the attention of this song, STP was always defending their song. Weiland constantly defended this song to the point of wearing a grandma dress from the 60s at a live performance. As stated by Weiland "This song is really not about sex at all. It's about control, violence and abuse of power."
Over the years Sex Type thing had become the traditional closer at concerts. The band would extend the bridge into a jam session, where Weiland would strip naked in front of the audience and then wrap his lower body in an American flag. I have seen that spectacle at one concert I was at. Over the years he would also wear sequined dresses, finely coiffed wigs and elbow-length evening gloves.
